MENSAJE DE BIENVENIDAS
In 2024, the fourth edition of the Global Stroke Alliance, for Stroke
without Frontiers, was successfully held in Bogota/Colombia,
with the participation of 28 countries and 850 attendees.
On the first day, among many parallel activities and events, it was held the V Latin American Ministerial Meeting on Stroke, which gathered delegations from 15 Latin American and Caribbean countries and 03 Ministers of Health and 03 vice-ministers and representatives of Ministers of 05 additional countries. This meeting gave rise to an intense and deep debate on public policies to fight stroke, including a workshop on the implementation of acute stroke care and a workshop on primary care focused on the WHO/PAHO HEARTS initiative. The event also offered training and updated course on stroke prevention, the acute stroke care workshop, the rehabilitation workshop, the primary and secondary prevention workshop and a Plenary Session, with the presentation of regional action plans for stroke care implementation.
During the event and due to its repercussions, the Panamanian committee, representing their Minister of Health, invited the GSA Organizing Committee to hold a regional edition of the event in their country, in 2025. The invitation was immediately accepted and announced on the last day of the event in Colombia. This upcoming event aims to review the 2024 commitments, evaluate the implementation of action plans and discuss new strategies. The fifth Latin American Ministerial Meeting is organized, together with SIECV and its main Event, the Ibero-American Conference on Cerebrovascular Diseases. We continue with our main objective: to encourage a global alliance that will improve stroke care worldwide by disseminating knowledge, exchanging experiences and creating tailored action plans for each region. It is a joint effort of experts, researchers, health managers, public and private hospitals, industry, and patient associations to evaluate the best strategies to implement stroke programs at all levels: prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
We look forward to welcoming you in to
